Professional Engineer Managers plan, coordinate and oversee projects, programs and consultant contracts/agreements and perform licensed professional engineering functions.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located within the Traffic Safety Engineering section of Planning and Program Development in Carson City. Incumbent will manage the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP); coordinate with private and public agencies with administering and developing of Traffic Safety Engineering projects; attend project, committee, public hearings, legislative, and other pertinent meetings; represents the division on related projects and special studies; reviews and updates current NDOT policies and procedures relating to highway safety and evaluates new safety improvement technology; and supports the Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) and participates in the Critical Emphasis Areas (CEA) activities, including chairing (or vice chairing) one or more CEA's. Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and two years of experience performing professional engineering work in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Supervisor, Professional Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and two years of experience as a Staff II or Supervisor II, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of continuing employment.

Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of employment and as a condition of continuing employment. |

A valid driver's license is required at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
