Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups.
The Nevada Secretary of State's Office Business Portal unit has an opening for an ITP III in the Business Portal Division. The position will be located in Carson City. The Business Portal group performs software technical design and documentation development, programming maintenance and triage support to Customer Service. The incumbent must have experience with object-oriented programming languages, such as Java, C#, C++, or other and the software development life cycle (SDLC). Knowledge of software testing frameworks and automation testing tools is beneficial, as well as knowledge of quality assurance (QA) methods and validation and verification (V&V) tools and techniques. Since the incumbent will also serve as triage for issues escalated from Customer Service, good communication skills are also requested. Silverflume development uses mostly Java code. Analysis, development, design, troubleshooting, on the SilverFlume business portal. Interfaces with Business licensing application(s), Taxation, DMV, and other State Agencies. Also other local jurisdictional licensing. Key functions include development from functional specifications, work orders, creation of Technical specifications, and working with business process analysts, and in some cases the customer to understand business requirements and how to technically achieve the objectives. Participates in defining, developing, and implementing the SDLC process. Identify risks, alternate solutions, conduct vulnerability testing. Perform Application maintenance and support items when necessary. Develop prototypes to get early feedback from business users. Work well with team members, and enforce required segretatoin of duties as developers, reviewers, testers, etc.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
