The Position
Under general direction Staff Game Wardens research, analyze, plan and develop legislative proposals, wildlife and boating law enforcement policies and regulations, training programs, grant proposals and budgets, and long and short-range goals and objectives for the Law Enforcement Division, in order to preserve and protect the State's wildlife and promote the safety of persons and property involved in the use of vessels on the waters of the State. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
Position may also fill in as an acting Chief in the absence of the Chief Game Warden as assigned. The incumbent promulgates regulations and legislation; conducts legal research; administers a State mandated law enforcement training program; serves as the point of contact for P.O.S.T.; writes standard operating procedures; and provides command staff assistance to the Chief Game Warden along with other duties as assigned. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in wildlife management, biology or closely related field and four years of professional experience in the enforcement of wildlife and boating safety laws and regulations; OR one year of experience as a Game Warden III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Applicants must meet Peace Officers' Standards and Training (POST) requirements as established in the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code.
Special Requirements
    A background investigation is required prior to being considered for appointment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience with law enforcement training (e.g., Field Training Officer or Law Enforcement Trainer) is required.
    Experience with technical writing (such as policy development) is required.
The Examination
Staff Game Warden
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

7) Describe your experience with long range plans and projects that included the following: a) research, b) development, c) recommendation, and/or d) implementation.
8) Describe your experience with the Legal/Judicial system that included the following: a) search warrants, b) arrest warrants, and/or c) courtroom testimony.
