The Position
Facility Supervisors/Managers plan, organize and direct buildings and grounds maintenance, repair, custodial work, security functions, and fleet maintenance and supervise skilled and semi-skilled staff.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. Lake's Crossing Center (LCC), a maximum security forensic/psychiatric facility for the mentally disorder offender in Sparks, Nevada is recruiting for a Facility Supervisor 2 position. Under general supervision of the Agency Director, the incumbent will plan, organize, and direct buildings and grounds maintenance and capital improvements projects. The incumbent will supervise both skilled and semi-skilled personnel performing work in a variety of disciplines and will be chairing the Environment of Care committee. Duties include planning, scheduling, assigning and participating in skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair of buildings, equipment and grounds; inspecting facilities and identifying deficiencies in structures, fixtures, adjacent landscapes and heating, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems; diagnosing system failure and equipment malfunctions using a variety of hand and power tools, electrical test instruments and light motorized equipment; installing new equipment and making structural modifications; reviewing structural blueprints, mechanical schematics, construction codes, fire codes and safety procedures in order to identify and solve problems arising in the course of work; estimating material and supply costs for scheduled maintenance projects such as remodeling office space including building and finishing walls and rerouting power sources; contacting outside contractors and commercial vendors for estimates in order to make budget projections and adhere to budget constraints; planning and scheduling work; communicating project concerns to agency management; training, supervising and evaluating the performance of assigned staff; scheduling, assigning and reviewing work; and performing other duties as assigned.
Hours are 6:30am to 3:00pm Monday through Friday. However, hours may vary and include evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the agency. The position is subject to call back in case of emergency. The environment requires a high level of physical stamina and/or the ability to deal with maladaptive and aggressive clients. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of building and facilities maintenance or construction experience which must have included project planning, preparation of job/project cost estimates, scheduling and project management, one year of which was at a supervisory level; OR one year of experience as a Facility Supervisor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    For Facility Manager, Supervisor II, and III, completion of Facility Operator Certification for Utility Systems (FOCUS) or a comparable instructional program in facility maintenance may be substituted for one year of non-supervisory experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires the ability to lift up to ninety pounds.
    Experience using a variety of hand and power tools is required.
The Examination

FACILITY SUPERVISOR 2 (09.609) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. 3) Describe your experience, including the number of years, establishing preventive maintenance schedules for a large commerical facility in the following trades: 1) HVAC, 2) Refrigeration, 3) Back Up power supplies, 4) Light vehicles and equipment, 5) Electrical Control Systems, 6) Plumbing, 7) Painting, 8) Grounds maintenance.
4) Describe your experience, including the number of years, estimating time, material and equipment costs for building projects and future maintenance needs for a large commercial facility.
5) Describe your experience, including the number of years, in hazardous material control including receiving, inventorying, record keeping and disposal.
6) Describe your experience, including the number of years, inspecting work performed by contractors to ensure adherence to plans and specifications.
7) Describe your experience, including the number of years, preparing written plans and specifications for building projects.
8) Describe your experience, including the number of years, interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings.
9) Describe your experience, including the number of years, preparing work orders and reports for completed work.
10) Describe your experience, including the number of years, preparing and maintaining a maintenance budget for a large commercial facility.
