Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within Nevada Department of Transportation's (NDOT) District II-Permits in Reno. Lead incumbent performs engineering functions requiring analysis of diverse data, exercising judgement impacting daily permit operations and policy procedure implementation. Duties include processing and coordinating for permit application packages, plan review and interpretation; design and administration of district contracts, special projects, and events; review of temporary traffic control, site reviews and implementation of field changes as required; preparation of technical engineering memoranda and letters; and providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers including responding to public inquiries, the media, research requests, or status updates. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
