The Position
Librarians are typically assigned to the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records (NSLAPR) Division and perform a broad range of professional level duties in support of a library that organizes and provides access to a wide selection of materials in a variety of formats.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Librarian 3 works within the Department of Administration's Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records (NSLAPR), located in either Las Vegas or Carson City, NV. Under the direction of the Assistant Administrator of Library Services and Library Development, incumbents provide specialized expertise and services with scope and impact beyond the agency, perform complex, technical or specialized duties in subunits or sections of the division, and manage special library services, or programs to meet specific needs within library development, in particular statewide Library Service Technology Act programs. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree in a program accredited by the American Library Association and two years of professional library experience which included a combination of at least three of the following: original cataloging/metadata, reference, e-resources, social media, managing government publications and/or assisting in collection development; OR one year of experience as a Librarian II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

1) Do you have experience regarding improving library services and programs through data mining, collection, analysis and visualization? If so, please describe when and where you obtained this experience.
2) Do you have experience with continuing education library programs that focus on library trustees, grant writing and developing instructional programs? If so, please describe when and where you obtained this experience.
3) Do you have experience supporting state mandated standards-based curriculum? Activities may include training and support for the Nevada Academic Content Standards and American Association of School Librarians standards for a 21st Century Learner. If so, please describe when and where you obtained this experience.
