The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
This supervisory position works within the Department of Administration's Enterprise IT Services (EITS) Division, Network Transport Services Unit, and is located in Carson City, NV.
The IT Professional 4 is responsible for operation and maintenance of a statewide IP/MPLS microwave network and site infrastructure. This position oversees the Network Transport Services field personnel throughout Carson City, Elko and Las Vegas. Additional duties include assigning staff priorities, providing technical support to field personnel; ensuring the implementation of engineering objectives, and confirming preventive maintenance is performed on network equipment.
The IT Professional 4 is also tasked with assisting with biennial budget development by identifying unit needs is as well as creating Statements of Work and coordinating with contractors and vendors on special projects.
Special requirements of this position include: Statewide travel up to 25% of the time that may entail traveling to remote mountaintop sites by 4-wheel drive, ATV, snow cat, helicopter, or hiking; climbing towers up to 120 feet above ground level; working in inclement weather and varying conditions; and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and five years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, two years of which were at the advanced journey level or in a supervisory or project management capacity; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science,management information systems, or closely related field and five years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which may include systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, relevant to the duties of the position, two years of which were at the journey level in information security; OR two years of relevant experience as an IT Professional III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience with TDM and Ethernet microwave systems is required.
