Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This is a Public Service Intern 1 position with the Department of Administration located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incumbent will work as a temporary employee for Enterprise IT Services in a student internship capacity. The emphasis of this internship is to train individuals to perform Information Technology functions for the Division's Agency IT Services. Work assignments will vary as an intern progresses in class standing. The position will assist the Desktop Group in various aspects of daily operations in the support of PCs and printers, along with providing technical coverage & support for Video Teleconferencing systems during scheduled meetings in multiple locations (Setup, teardown & operating). Ideal candidates have strong attention to detail, a desire to produce quality work, and the ability to work as part of a team. Knowledge of designing simple and intuitive user interfaces and report writing skills is a plus. This position may require varying work shifts or work days now or in the future. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or the equivalent and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university.
Special Notes
Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation.
Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
Applicants must be currently and successfully enrolled in a college or university majoring in IT, Computer Science, or directly related field. Copies of transcripts MUST be attached to your application.
