The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Information Technology (IT) Managers are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the IT activities, in one or more IT specialization areas, of the State, a department, or a division.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives. Cannabis Compliance Board (CCB) is seeking an IT Manager to lead the creation of the CCB Information Technology Division. The incumbent will need to be a self-starter and have strong communication skills. The major components of this job are: Information Security Officer, Project Management, Vendor Management, IT Budget creation/management and staff supervision.
This position will report directly to the CCB Executive Director and supervise three staff members: 1 IT Professional 2 and 2 IT Technician 4s.
The Nevada Information Security Professional (NISP) certification is required and must be obtained within one year of appointment. The State of Nevada has a required supervisory training track and will need to be completed with the required timeframe.
This position is located in Carson City and travel to/from Southern Nevada will be required. Federally recognized identification for travel is required. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and six years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which involved strategic planning, project management, quality assurance, and computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, or applications analysis and development. Three years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or project manager capacity; OR one year of experience as an IT Manager I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc (ISC2), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) is equivalent to three years of experience.
Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) is equivalent to two years of experience.
Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), GIAC Security Expert (GSE) is equivalent to two years of experience.
Other nationally recognized information security certifications may be substituted for up to one year of experience.

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
This position is subject to working nights, weekends and holidays.
This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
Statewide travel is required.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Applicants must have NISP certification or be able to obtain it within one year of appointment.
