Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned.
This position is located within the Communications Section of District II in Reno. The incumbent of this position will maintain data and voice communications infrastructures throughout District II, including sites shared with other agencies/public utilities such as Nevada Department of Public Safety, NV Energy, Nevada Enterprise IT Services, etc. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining various field Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices and systems which will, at times, require the incumbent to perform the duties of the position anytime within a 24-hour period; and require the incumbent to work on a mountaintop or on a freeway. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining Department telephone systems and will also provide radio communication support for NDOT District II field personnel. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

This position requires that the selected candidate be able to obtain an FCC Commercial General Radiotelephone license within six months of employment and as a condition of continued employment. |

This position requires traveling to remote mountain top sites via 4-wheel Drive, Sno-Cat tracked vehicles, helicopter or hiking by foot. |
