Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) is recruiting for a vacancy at the Central Office location within the Child Care and Development unit. The incumbent has statewide responsibility for conducting outreach and building partnerships with other agencies, programs, and stakeholders and is also responsible for drafting and developing policies and procedures and the oversight of policy implementation. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for developing agreements and memorandums of understanding between the Division and other entities related to the program and ensuring program components are executed and administered in compliance with Federal regulations, State laws, and Division goals and objectives. The position will also require collaboration with the project management unit and system developers to create executive summaries and work items, initiate automated system enhancements, and to assist with the testing and implementation of those enhancements. This position reports directly to the program Chief. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of professional social services, medical assistance programs services, or healthcare services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex documents such as federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
