The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
This position is located in the Division of Public and Behavioral Health and supports the Human Resources Team for DPBH Administrative Services. The Accounting Assistant 2 is responsible for reviewing timesheets, preparing special pay documents such as retroactive pay, leave balance corrections/adjustments, terminations/transfers adjustments as necessary. Verifies entries are accurate and correct. Places Pay Clerk Approval on all timesheets for designated budget accounts. Balances payroll and resolves any discrepancies as needed. Tracks Catastrophic leave, FMLA reports for designated budgets. As this position is part of the Human Resources team it is subjected to many different Human Resource functions including backup to our Personnel Technicians. Our ideal candidate is someone who has payroll experience, and has interest in the Human Resources field. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
