Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
The Parole Board is recruiting to fill an Administrative Assistant III position in Carson City. The position will provide support to the Executive Assistant of the Pardons Board (Program Officer 1) and provide backup assistance as needed. This position will receive and review a high volume of pardons applications, assist in the approval or denial of these applications, and determine eligibility; compile Pardons Board meeting packets and assist in the preparation of agendas for Pardons Board meetings; qualifying cases that are heard in-absentia; respond to inquiries via phone call, voice mail, or by email from applicants or their legal representatives, assess and prioritize the importance of each call, and as necessary, defer inquires to the Program Officer 1; create and maintain spreadsheets utilizing formulas to track pardon grants and denials and to track the receipt of applications; and update the Pardons Board website as needed. Candidates must have working knowledge of Nevada Offender Tracking Information System (NOTIS), Offender Tracking Information System (OTIS,) and Excel, including spreadsheets and formulas. Candidates must also be able to interpret state regulations. The incumbent will work Monday through Thursday from 7am to 5:30pm.

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
