The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position will provide primary support for staff and properties in Las Vegas, Boulder City and Overton. The position will be housed in Las Vegas. The position will have intricate knowledge of PC hardware, software applications and fundamentals. The incumbent will report directly to the Chief Technical Office and may provide technical knowledge and assistance to the junior IT technician(s). With limited supervision the incumbent will assist with user IT support, IT project deployment, Site IT operations, workstation and server maintenance, and other IT peripheral support and maintenance for the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, including the Division of Museums and History, Nevada Arts Council and Division of Tourism. The incumbent must be able to work with Department/Division users and State Enterprise IT in a professional and courteous manner.
The general job duties will include but are not limited to: *Analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. *Responsible for the installation and migration of new software, hardware and user data, interfacing user computers appropriately, repairing new equipment, and responding to other work requests. *Conduct detailed alternative analyses and determine end-user requirements through consultation with end-users, technicians, vendors, management, and others. *Maintain documentation related to the assigned IT specialization's architecture, operations, and other records of work activities as required. *Maintain current knowledge of technological trends and advancements in the IT field as well as security management practices, laws, policies, and ethics. *Supports the department needs for video and teleconference. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Statewide travel is required.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
