JOB INFORMATION

Licensed Practical Nurses provide general or psychiatric practical nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
The Nevada Department of Veterans Services, Southern Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, Nevada is recruiting for a Licensed Practical Nurse 1. The Licensed Practical Nurse 1 will be in a trainee capacity and will acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities
required in this occupation.
This position provides direct nursing care to residents on an assigned neighborhood. In addition, this position administers medication and completes therapeutic procedures; provides specialized nursing wound care to residents; participates in the MDS/Care Planning process; communicates with neighborhood staff, residents, families, visitors and members of the Nevada State Veterans Home treatment team. This is a 24 hour facility; therefore, applicants may be required to work shift work. Work experience in a skilled nursing facility and IV Certification is preferred. Progression to the Licensed Practical Nurse 2 level may occur upon meeting minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with the approval of the appointing authority. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada and one year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Applicants must be able to work weekends.
