The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This position is located within the Department of Health and Human Services, Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) - Nevada Early Intervention Services in Elko, Winnemucca, or Ely, Nevada, depending on the candidate pool. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
This position provides administrative support to the manager, supervisors and professional staff. The incumbent supervises and trains the lower level administrative assistant staff located in the northeastern region; performs administrative and specialized duties to support program activities, including maintaining records and files, preparing a wide range of documents, data verification and data entry, and performs assignments in compliance with complex rules, regulations and procedures. This position is responsible for processing contractor payroll, travel requests and claims and invoices and reviews and prepares fiscal documents. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

    Must be able to travel at least once a month to offices in the northeast region.
