JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Agriculturists perform a variety of inspections and enforcement duties related to regulated agricultural programs such as seed testing and seed certification, commercial pest control licensing, commercial nursery inspection and licensing, vertebrate pest control, noxious weeds, insect and plant disease quarantine surveys, and commercial feed and agricultural product grading.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The position will perform USDA Certified Marketplace Inspections. This will require regular communication with industry involving demand for marketplace inspections which will be input into a database for program planning. The incumbent will be required to secure and maintain their marketplace inspector license through USDA in addition to credentialing for issuing phytosanitary certificates. The position will be required to perform all record keeping and reporting duties associated with these inspections; reports violations to program manager for action; provides occasional education to stakeholders involving market place requirements; and assists the program manager with inspecting the production of crops and eggs for the issuance of a Producers certificate. The position will assist in field sampling and inspection of agricultural products including inspections for Industrial Hemp, Nursery Stock, and Allium Quarantine, and other sampling and inspections duties, as needed. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in agricultural science or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and professional experience which provided experience in regulatory agricultural programs such as seed certification, pest control licensing, or enforcement of regulations related to agriculture and horticulture; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of technical inspection and enforcement experience related to agricultural programs.
