Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position supports Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) Laughlin Behavioral Health Center. Incumbents will provide individual, family and group therapy to mental health clients of all ages, complete screenings for prospective clients, conduct intakes for new clients and provide clinical evaluations. Direct clinical services are provided in an outpatient clinic as well as in the community and the client's home. Incumbents will work directly with a team of clinicians, psychiatric nurses, and other mental health professionals in an outpatient setting. The position ensures compliance with Joint Commission and CMS standards, established laws, regulations and SNAMHS policies. Applicants MUST have licensure or certification from the State of Nevada appropriate licensing board as a Mental Health Counselor, Certified Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist.
This position is full time with an expected work schedule of 8am-5pm Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday off. Incumbent will work an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and two years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a Master's degree and experience as described above. |

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. |
