The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This position is in the Provider Enrollment unit of the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) located in Las Vegas and will be responsible for ongoing policy development, planning, and implementation of program policies. The incumbent will be conducting research and analyses in order to develop recommendations for policy revisions; review Provisional Enrollment applications and monitor those providers that are enrolled; conduct state-wide Medicaid provider site visits and any required Fingerprint Based Criminal Background Checks (FCBC) for providers or applicants designated as a moderate/high categorical risk provider type; research and respond to requests from providers, fiscal agent staff and other program staff; and make termination recommendations for providers who no longer meet the criteria to serve as a Medicaid provider. This position will be responsible to monitor managed care network providers to ensure their enrollment in Fee-for-Service Medicaid and conduct outreach to ensure network providers revalidate in a timely manner.
The incumbent must be able to interpret state and federal regulations, program requirements and procedures and have the ability to communicate this information in a professional manner both verbally and/or in written correspondence to chiefs, administrators, fiscal agent, providers and/or sister agencies; prepare statistical reports, and conduct outreach trainings and presentations when necessary; participate in workshops; public hearings; recognize and respond to community needs and concerns; and coordinate efforts with various service providers, government officials, professional attorneys and customers to resolve issues of mutual concern and provide guidance to ensure program integrity initiatives. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.

    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
