The Position
Mid-Level Medical Practitioners may be either Advanced Practice Registered Nurses or Physician Assistants who provide medical care. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) is looking for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) who can deliver mental health care to adult psychiatric clients in the Outpatient Medication Clinic. The APRN or PA will either have a psychiatric certification (PMHNP-BC) or at least 1 year of psychiatric experience. The APRN or PA will be responsible for performing psychiatric intake evaluations, diagnosing and treating a variety of mental illnesses, conducting follow-up medication management appointments, ordering and analyzing tests, providing referrals for additional healthcare in the community, and updating and maintaining accurate and current health records. The successful candidate will work as a team member with other APRNs, Psychiatrists, Registered Nurses, service coordinators, therapists, financial benefit coordinators, and other mental health support staff.
NNAMHS Medication Clinic offers walk-in assessment services for the community which includes screenings, evaluations, and appropriate referrals to other community agencies, as well as ongoing psychiatric care for individuals who meet criteria for admission to NNAMHS services. The team of RNs, APRNs, MDs, Financial Benefits Coordinators, LCSWs, and additional support staff work together to provide services. The APRN or PA will also work with the Mental Health Court and Family Treatment Court programs, the Assisted Outpatient Treatment program, and Intensive Service Coordination program. The NNAMHS Outpatient Medication Clinic works closely with many community agencies to best serve the people of Northern Nevada with mental health needs. The Medication Clinic is open Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Licensure by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners or certification by the Nevada State Board of Osteopathic Medicine as a Physician Assistant; OR certification of recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse Practitioner issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
Special Requirements
    Current certification of registration or license to prescribe from the Nevada Board of Pharmacy is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Licensure to prescribe controlled substances from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and/or Basic Life Support is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this series must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    Current licensure by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners as a Physician Assistant; licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires psychiatric certification (PMHNP-BC) or experience working in a psychiatric setting.
