Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position may be located statewide within the Materials Division in Carson City or Las Vegas. This position is responsible for performing geotechnical analyses and providing design/construction recommendations for foundations supporting all types of transportation facilities, including bridges, buildings, and retaining walls; conducting field explorations and inspections; conducting seismic surveys; performing stability analyses for rock and soil cut slopes, rock falls, and landslides; providing design/construction recommendations for revetments, subsurface trench drains, and roadway subgrade support; performing stability and settlement analyses for embankments. This position prepares geotechnical reports and design memoranda; reviews construction project plans, specifications, and cost estimates; manages outside consultants geotechnical work; attends meetings; conducts construction projects; and provides support in disputing contractors claims. Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) |

A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
|

The practice of engineering does not include land surveying or the work ordinarily performed by persons who operate or maintain machinery or equipment.
|
|
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
|
|
This position requires experience in geotechnical design for civil engineering applications. |
