The Position
Health Program Managers provide administrative direction for programs related to maternal, child and family health, nutrition, disease control, or other health programs.
This position provides administrative direction and direct supervision to the programs/projects within the Office of Public Health Investigations and Epidemiology (OPHIE) with the Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH). The OPHIE mission is to record and analyze reportable disease information; conduct interviews; collect data; identify risk factors; recommend prevention and education opportunities and work in conjunction with many agencies throughout the state. OPHIE staff performs data collection and reporting in a broad spectrum of public health areas. Oversight includes program development, implementation and evaluation, budget preparation and oversight, and ensuring fiscal accountability and compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulations. This position would develop and oversee legislative authority and ensure work programs are developed to allow staff and programs to operate successfully. This position provides administrative oversight to several budget accounts including 3219, a very complex budget account that involves federal grant funds, contractual funds, general funds, and transfer funds; as well as, 3153, which includes fee funds, penalty funds, and federal funds. OPHIE has three office locations in Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. This position has to coordinate supervision and project management between sites in order to ensure deliverables are met timely and policies and procedures are maintained regardless of location.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, human services, social science, behavioral science or related field and four years of increasingly responsible professional experience in a health-related field, two years of which included providing or coordinating the delivery of health care services, budget preparation and control, and the interpretation and implementation of complex regulations. Of the two years of experience, one year must have included supervision of professional staff; OR one year of experience as a Health Program Manager I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
    Grant management experience is required.
    Government budget preparation experience is required.
