Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS), together in partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies, provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential. DCFS programs include child protective and welfare service delivery in rural Nevada and oversight of urban county-operated child protective and welfare services, children's mental/behavioral health treatment and residential services (outpatient and inpatient acute) in urban Nevada, and statewide juvenile justice services including state-operated youth training centers and youth parole. DCFS is an extremely complex organization with incredibly dedicated and professional staff committed to building strong communities through strengthening families.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking a Mental Health Technician I to be located in Las Vegas. Oasis On-Campus Treatment Homes are residential units that operate 7 days per week, 24 hours per day with three shifts of fully awake supervision that provides intensive treatment intervention for severely emotionally disturbed (SED) adolescents age 6-17. Mental Health Technicians assist with clients including participating in the formulation and implementation of treatment plans and observing client behavior on an ongoing basis to monitor the effectiveness of treatment. They also assist with daily running of the homes to include cooking and cleaning.
Both full time positions and part time positions available with a minimum of 21 hours a week are available. Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience involving public contact which may have included providing care or guidance for children, elders or others; volunteer work in providing respite to caregivers; or leading youth groups; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. |

Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant at the cost of the applicant. |
