Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is with the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds section in Carson City, Nevada and is supervised by the Facility Supervisor III. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled work in one or more of the major building or mechanical trades to include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, welding, or equipment mechanics. Routine tasks are performed independently, but complex semi-skilled work is typically performed in conjunction with a journey level trades worker or Maintenance Repair Specialist. This position requires a valid Nevada driver's license at time of appointment and must be able to supervise and work with inmate labor. There is a travel requirement of up to 25%; standby/call back; and flexible/rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Two years of building, grounds and equipment maintenance
experience in performing semi-skilled building/grounds and equipment maintenance work; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A valid Class C Nevada driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Flexible/rotating shifts is required.
Working nights, weekends and holidays is required.
Standby/Callback required.
Ability to work with and supervise inmate labor required.
