Accountant Technicians perform technical accounts maintenance work for agencies with complex accounting functions or systems. Factors that contribute to complexity include, but are not limited to, federal grant reporting, external bank accounts, cost allocation plans, budget accounts, bank guidelines other than those contained in the State Administrative Manual, enterprise accounting, complex fund accounting, and external reporting requirements.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This is an Accountant Technician 1 position, underfilling an Accountant Technician 2. This position works within the Administrative Services Division (ASD) of the Department of Administration, located in Carson City. The division serves as the central fiscal agent of 70+ budget accounts across a variety of state agencies. Clients are primarily Department of Administration agencies, elected officials, and other small state entities that do not have their own fiscal staff. Specifically, this position will work in the Accounting section of ASD, mainly working within Accounts Receivable. Job duties include, but are not limited to: approving (Pend4) revenue transactions in the State's financial system; auditing billing files sent in by client agencies for accuracy, uploading billing data into IGOR (Admin Services Division internal program) to process billing claims to be sent out statewide. The incumbent will be responsible for reconciliation of revenue data and will ensure that the statewide "Snatch & Grabs", processed by ASD, are keyed and approved timely and accurately. The incumbent will also cross train to provide backup for Accounts Payable related functions of the accounting section. Graduation from high school supplemented by 6 college credits in beginning accounting and two years of financial records maintenance experience which includes such duties as controlling accounts payable/receivable; preparing financial reports for internal management use; and reconciling complex accounts; OR two years of experience as an Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service which includes 6 college credits in beginning accounting; OR one year as an Accounting Assistant IV in Nevada State service which includes 6 college credits in beginning accounting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above which must have included 6 college credits in beginning accounting. |
