The Position
Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.
This position is located at the State Treasurer's Office and will serve as the State's Student Loan Ombudsman. The Student Loan Ombudsman will be responsible for assisting student loan borrowers by researching, analyzing, and advising them on their rights, responsibilities, and recourses, and serving as a liaison between borrowers and student loan servicers, lenders, and guaranty agencies. The Ombudsman will also be responsible for developing, distributing, and teaching educational resources that assist current and future borrowers in understanding loans and how to most responsibly borrow. The Ombudsman will: * Review borrowers' loan history and agreement(s), assist borrowers with knowing their rights and responsibilities, and attempt to facilitate the resolution of complaints and questions submitted by borrowers. * Develop and maintain a robust set of informational and educational resources, such as FAQs, toolkits, etc., that help students and households understand student loans and make good borrowing decisions. * Organize and facilitate community meetings, panels, workshops, etc. to provide students and households with opportunities to learn about how to best plan, save, and affordably pay for post-secondary education, and the resources available that can assist them in doing so. * Build and foster strong, strategic partnerships to further all areas of programming; and collaborate with key community stakeholders to share best practices and resources that will maximize student outcomes. * Collect, analyze and maintain community and program data for purposes of program improvement and reporting and developing policy recommendations. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience which included budgeting, accounting, and/or economic or management analysis and projections; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience in at least two of the following are required: 1) experience working in K-12 or higher education improving student achievement; 2) experience working in college admissions, financial aid and/or scholarships advising students on enrollment, completion, scholarships, loans, etc.; 3) experience working with underserved youth and/or communities administering services; and/or 4) experience working in client services case management (e.g., social work, legal, health) assisting individuals navigate public systems and manage services.
