The Position
Employee Development Managers and Training Officers analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage and coordinate training and development for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function and supervise and/or conduct sessions for vocation and/or skills training in specific occupational areas and general management development.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Under the general supervision of the Employee Development Manager of the DHRM's Office of Employee Development (OED), the incumbent will develop/revise/update training curricula for the State's various learning & development programs including Certified Public Manager (CPM), Supervisor Skills, Management Academy, and various open enrollment/special training offerings in consultation with subject matter experts and colleagues. Specific curriculum development tasks include: drafting course outlines, establishing learning/performance objectives, writing instructor guides, designing student learning activities and other student materials, as well as creating slide decks and other visual aids to support the delivery of the instruction. The incumbent will serve as an instructor primarily for the CPM program and other courses sponsored by OED. Specific instructional duties may include: scheduling courses, managing student registration and communications, teaching courses, and contributing to course revisions based on student and instructor evaluations. In addition, the incumbent may serve as the department's liaison with the State's Smart 21 initiative and so additional experience in project management or technical training could be helpful. The position can be located in either Las Vegas or Carson City. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business or public administration or a related field and three years of professional experience in the adult and/or employee training and development process including conducting training needs assessments; planning and developing curriculum; and coordinating and conducting formal training; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as described above; OR one year experience as a Training Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    The ability to travel at least 50% of the time is required.

    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
