JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Buyers are responsible for the procurement of major goods, financing and services required by State agencies and political subdivisions.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located within the Equipment Division in Sparks. This position will be responsible for the processing of daily Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) requisitions from statewide users for various commodities and services; acts as the liaison between State Purchasing, vendors, and end users; receives all Equipment Division and NDOT State Purchasing orders through the state's Advantage System; assists the Buyer IV in managing statewide Open Term Contracts; preparation of vehicle bids; assists in the procurement of vehicles, equipment and miscellaneous assets; and assists the shop in various quotes for major rebuild components. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or related field and two years of professional experience in buying, specification writing or related professional purchasing responsibilities; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of purchasing experience, two years of which was at the professional level as described above; OR one year of experience as a Buyer II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
