The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This position is with the Department of Business and Industry, Taxicab Authority (TA) and will have primary responsibility for the management and day-to-day support of the TAs information system infrastructure. This includes support of personal computers, printers, and mobile devices; user training, system testing, and documentation; troubleshooting and issue resolution; preparation and management of system specifications and enhancements; and re-engineering business processes through research and deployment of new technologies. The incumbent will also need to quickly become familiar with the TAs business processes, business rules, and industry practices. They will need to be proactive in communicating with TA staff and external stakeholders, and facilitating the implementation of key initiatives.
A primary role of this position will be to complete the implementation of a new enterprise software system (Accela SaaS) that supports the core business functions of the TA, including licensing, inspections, enforcement, courts and dispatch. The incumbent will be responsible for: (a) day-to-day management of the project, (b) facilitating communication between the software vendors, project team members and stakeholders, (c) managing and resolving issues, (d) oversee user acceptance testing and system validation, and (e) provide system analysis expertise. Once the new system is in full production, the incumbent will continue to support the system and implement new functionality and upgrades as appropriate. Ongoing support will require the incumbent to: (a) perform administrative duties of the system, including configuration changes; (b) schedule and test software upgrades when the vendor is ready to deploy them; (c) design and develop reports in Crystal; and (d) manage the setup and deployment of mobile devise and mobile applications. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

1) Please describe your experience supporting the Information Technology (IT) infrastructure for an organization. Specify the operating system(s) and the number and type of devices you supported (e.g. Personal Computers, mobile devices, printers/copiers, servers and switches).
2) Do you have experience analyzing, designing, developing, testing and/or implementing software solutions? Please describe, include the programming languages and platforms (Crystal Reports, Java, .NET, C++, C#, PHP, etc.), and type of application (i.e. function it performed, such as accounting, budgeting, inventory tracking, website, etc.). Also, please describe your role(s) on the projects(s).
3) Do you have experience with database products, for example, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, Oracle, MySQL, etc.? Please describe. Include any experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and developing reports.
4) Do you have experience supporting enterprise software applications (defined as software that meets the needs of an entire organization's operation, rather than that of individual users)? Please include a description of the software and your support role.
5) Have you had a lead role on any IT Projects? If so, please describe your role and what you were responsible for. What was the outcome of the project?
