The Position
Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) currently has Mental Health Technician IV position available at Rawson Neal Hospital. The Mental Health Technician IV (MHT IV) acts as supervisor to a group of other techs. The MHT IV takes vital signs and documents findings in the electronic record. Incumbent will be called upon to exercise leadership, model appropriate behaviors as defined in the agency competencies and manage performance and will need to influence and motivate techs to reach the expected level of excellence in care. Successful candidates will be highly competent communicators and be able to lead and motivate staff. Because team-building and collaboration will be key functions of the position, candidates will need to be empowering and able to develop staff members. Maintaining high ethical standards in all job elements, the MHT IV will need to be proficient in conflict management and resolution and work toward creating an environment that is free from disruptive behaviors and works to maintain the highest standard of patient care.
This is a full-time position. Incumbent will be working an innovative variable schedule, with overtime after 40 hours per week. Our Agency's mission is to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life. Through a team approach, we provide innovative inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the Southern Nevada community. Some of the valuable services we provide include Psychiatric Emergency Services, Inpatient Services, Mobile Crises, Outpatient Counseling, Service Coordination, Intensive Service Coordination, Medication Clinic, Residential Support Programs, Mental Health Court, Consumer Advocacy and Programs for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) teams. Inpatient services are provided through the new Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital. Outpatient services are provided through four mental health clinics located throughout the Las Vegas community and four rural locations. We are accredited by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. QUALIFIED APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.***
