The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Accountants are responsible for preparing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This opening is for an Accountant 2 within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) - Fiscal Unit in Carson City. This position will be responsible for preparation of all federal weekly funding requests including accuracy of amounts and entering into the DHCFP internal tracking system. The incumbent will maintain all reports as they relate to weekly funding; keep all related reports in alignment with current chart of accounts; responsible for preparation, accuracy, and completeness all federal reports as assigned; and responsible for assisting in preparation, accuracy and completeness of the annual reports required by the State with additional responsibilities for assisting in the preparation and completion of other federal or internal reports as assigned. The incumbent will also act as a backup for recording cash receipts in a timely and accurate manner.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting and one year of experience performing professional accounting work; OR a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or related field which included 18 credits in accounting and two years of experience performing professional accounting work; OR one year of experience as an Accountant I in Nevada State service and 18 college credits in accounting.
Special Notes
The required 18 college credits in accounting must include 6 credits of beginning accounting, 6 credits of intermediate accounting, and 6 credits of upper-division accounting courses.
