The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is with the State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds Section in Las Vegas and will be supervised by the HVACR Specialist II. The HVACR Specialist I position will service, maintain and repair HVAC equipment related to Direct Digital Control (DDC), chillers, boilers, pumps, hydronics, package and split systems, cooling towers, fan coils, VAVs and other related HVAC equipment. The incumbent will use the work order system (Maximo), work with Building Automation Controls, maintain EPA regulations, follow International Building Codes, and provide exceptional customer service. This job may require traveling to multiple locations and may require a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the department for emergency situations (stand-by and call back status), projects as they arise. This position will participate in the on-call rotation. Please note that employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an extensive background check.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be requred to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
This position requires the incumbent to be EPA certified to recover refrigerant and recharge equipment.
This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
This position requires lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds over head.
