JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
This Public Service Intern position will prepare the incumbent for a Rehabilitation Counselor position. Under supervision, incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation in areas that include vocational counseling and guidance, eligibility determination, case and expenditure management, and development and implementation of service plans that help diminish, eliminate or accommodate disability-related barriers to employment. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree related to the field of employment and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic graduate program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university.
Special Notes
Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation.
Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in counseling, health, social or other related behavioral science. Transcripts must be attached to your application. They do not need to be official copies but failure to provide them will result in the denial of your application.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
