The Position
Clinical Social Workers provide clinical services to clients/inmates in a residential, home, inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, correctional or similar setting.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a clinical social worker/clinician in their Children's Clinical Services (CCS) outpatient mental health program in Las Vegas. Children's Clinical Services provides individual, family and group therapy and case management services to children ages 6 to 18 and their families with mental health and/or behavioral health issues. Children's Clinical Services provides services in home, office and community settings. There are four outpatient CCS locations in the Las Vegas community. The selected candidate will perform client evaluations and assessments through interviews with youth, families and supports systems and review of medical records including social, developmental, and medical history; determine strengths, presenting problems, resources, and eligibility for applicable programs and services; and identify appropriate interventions. This position may complete assessments with youth who may be hostile, combative, aggressive or assaultive.
The incumbent will follow established protocols and policy in order to ensure quality and timely services for youth and their families. This position provides individual, family and group therapy. Treatment goals and progress are developed and reviewed in the context of Child and Family Teams. DCFS Children's Clinical Services works within the Nevada System of Care (SOC) and is guided by SOC principles and values. DCFS Children's Clinical Services has an extensive training curriculum that includes opportunities to be trained in Evidence Based Practices. This position will be cross trained to work with Early Childhood Mental Health and Mobile Response and Stabilization. This is a full-time position with a variable work schedule agreement, typically Monday - Friday, with at least one late day (until 7pm) a week required. Candidates must be Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the State of Nevada. This is a full-time position with overtime after 40 hours per week.     Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Must be licensed as a Clinical Social Worker by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
    Experience working with children birth to 18 is required.
