The Position
Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The position supports Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) is anticipated to be assigned to Outpatient Services at the Mesquite Behavioral Health Center in Mesquite, Nevada. The mission of the agency is to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life. Incumbents actively participate in a multidisciplinary team managing a wide variety of patients and diagnoses. Dynamic work responsibilities include assessing and identifying patient health care needs; making comprehensive clinical observations and evaluations; prepare nursing care plans; administering medications as prescribed by a physician or designee; monitoring patients for medication side effects and/or allergic reaction. Will also provide crisis intervention and help develop safety plan recommendations for patients and ensure compliance with CMS standards, as well as established laws, regulations and SNAMHS policies.
This is an Outpatient Nursing full-time position Monday through Friday from 8AM-5PM. Incumbents will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR one year of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
Out of state applicants must have a temporary license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing at the time of appointment and must obtain permanent licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing as a condition of continuing employment.

CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
