The Position
Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is with the Office of Career Readiness, Adult Learning & Education Options (CRALEO) located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Education Programs Supervisor oversees the assigned New Skills for Youth (NSFY)/LifeWorks program initiative, directing current Agency Education Program Professionals in that assigned program work. This position serves as the State's and the Department's point of contact for NSFY/LifeWorks statewide program initiative administration. The person in this position has, and must maintain, a strong working knowledge of state and federal statutes and regulations as they apply to career readiness. The incumbent will hold regular meetings with NSFY/LifeWorks core and steering teams, internal and external Nevada Executive Branch staff, internal and external stakeholders, and allocates and monitors resources for the completion of new and ongoing projects as they relate to the NSFY/LifeWorks program. Supervisory responsibilities include timesheets, travel authorization, and compliance with necessary supervision classes as required by the state. Under the direction of the Director of CRALEO, this position serves as the Educational Programs Supervisor (EPS) for the New Skills for Youth (NSFY)/LifeWorks program that includes, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities: (1) leadership and programmatic oversight of the NSFY program; (2) grants administration, including processing of sub-grant awards, application revisions, amendments, requests for applications, etc.; (3) budgetary and fiscal oversight as it pertains to the NSFY/LifeWorks program and activities; direct supervision of a Program Officer, and supervision and direction of NSFY/LifeWorks' work and activities performed by the CRALEO Education Programs Professionals (EPPs). ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Doctorate degree from an accredited university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or closely related field and two years of professional experience in an educational program area, which included experience in at least one of the following areas related to the current vacancy: managing a program budget; leading and managing a team that supports organizational goals; evaluating a program and/or program participants for compliance purposes or outcomes; developing and implementing a vision for desired outcomes; and/or communicating with diverse stakeholders across various platforms; OR Master's degree from an accredited university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and three years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as an Education Programs Professional in Nevada State service.
Special Requirements
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    This position requires statewide and/or national travel.
    This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI background check, at the cost of the applicant.
