JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
This position is based in the Community Health Services at the Division of Public and Behavioral Health in Carson City. The incumbent will work in the central office of CHS which supports 12 Community Health Nursing clinics in rural and frontier Nevada. This position supports fiscal and administrative activities such as maintaining records and files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; billing and revenue to for clinic services. The incumbent possesses a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced level work and is responsible for correct billing of treatment charges, collection accounts, referrals, fee adjustments, processing department deposits, insurance denials, client billing questions, chart audits, preparing and mailing out statements, claiming electronic funds. The appointee must be able to multitask in a busy environment, have good interpersonal skills and determine priority of assignments as well as establish timelines and meet required deadlines. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
