The Position
Casework Management Specialists within the Department of Health & Human Services, Division of Child & Family Services, provide case management services for children and their families and may be assigned to one of many specialized programs and/or facilities where duties may be performed in the home and/or any similar setting.
The DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES Child Protective Services Intake position duties include but not limited to; the initial assessment process to identify children who are in need of protection. Intake positions elicit and document all relevant information from reporters, such that an informed safety decision can be made, a review of UNITY history (or CPS history in other states if applicable) should accompany the current report; run NCJIS background checks on all known adults who have caregiver responsibility or significant contact with the children; documentation of Intake calls/reports of alleged child maltreatment; justification for decision making and proper handling of criminal background information in accordance with the Division of Child and Family Services Civil Applicant Criminal History Records Information (CHRI) policy and procedure; create participants; and search for existing and open new cases.
Documentation for all Intake related activity is immediate and diligent search documentation should occur within 3 days of the activity. The incumbent is responsible for conducting initial and ongoing and diligent searches as requested. This is a full-time position located in the Carson and Elko District Offices. Positions include a variable work agreement that will be scheduled to work hours and days different than 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday with overtime after 40 hours per week. The State of Nevada and Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) offers an excellent benefits package that includes health, dental and vision insurance, participation in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), accrual of 15 days of annual and 15 days of sick leave, 11 paid holidays and no city, county, state or social security tax. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, special education, human growth and development, criminal justice, psychology, counseling, social work, sociology or closely related social/human services related field and two years of professional experience providing case management services specific to children in a health and/or human services setting; OR one year of experience as a Casework Management Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience above the Bachelor's degree level as described above.
Special Requirements
    Positions may be required to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
    Positions require a valid driver's license, or equivalent mobility, at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
