State Land Agents conduct a broad range of real estate transactions related to State lands. Transactions include the development and execution of authorizations to use State land, such as construction authorizations, leases, licenses, easements, and permits. State Land Agents also acquire and dispose of land and land interests, including water, mineral and development rights, within statutory authority and in accordance with established real estate principles, practices and ethical standards.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
State Land Agents conduct a broad range of real estate transactions related to State lands. Such transactions include authorizations, leases, easements, navigable water permits, acquisition and disposal of land, as well as water and mineral rights. These activities are conducted within statutory authority and in accordance with established real estate principles and practices.
Under general supervision, incumbents perform a full range of duties including generation of documents associated with the above transactions and requested use of State owned land. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating with the other state and federal agencies and regulatory entities such as the Division of State Parks, the Division of Museums and History, the Nevada Army National Guard, the Bureau of Land Management, the United States Forest Service as well as the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and local municipalities and conservation districts. The coordination and services provided to these agencies are completed in a professional and timely manner and with the best interest of the State and use of State land in mind. The individual often conducts research in a variety of areas including historical property records, patents, title research, and review of state and federal laws related to State lands to produce reports and other associated documents.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, real estate, environmental or natural science, or related field and two years of experience in public lands; real estate, escrow and title, property appraisal, or related field, one year of which included responsibility for property valuations or transactions such as acquisition, disposal, property management or development or leasing; OR one year of experience as a State Land Agent I in Nevada State service, OR and equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Position requires moderate statewide travel. |

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process. |
