The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The purpose of this position is to install, maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade and secure all functions of the Distributed Learning Classrooms (DLC) and/or Mobile Distributed Learning Classroom (MDLC). This includes installation of network infrastructure and networking devices such as routers and switches as well as maintaining and upgrading these devices and configurations. In addition, the installation, maintenance and operation of audiovideo equipment such as Crestron and Extron audiovideo switchers and baluns. This position is responsible for systems administration of various servers such as Active Directory and VMware servers, and systems administration of end-point work stations. Security management of all of these systems is also a priority for this position along with data entry regarding classroom scheduling and utilization metrics. Beyond the technical skills required, this position is responsible for training users on the correct method for accessing the systems in these classrooms and training in other topics selected by the State Distributed Learning Program Administrator (SDLPA, IT Pro II). Another non-technical requirement for this position is to seek out additional utilization by communicating with both military and civilian personnel in order to attempt to find users who need the resources the classrooms provide and make it known to the users that their technology needs can be accommodated in the classrooms. Must have CompTIA Security+ certification, must have or be able to acquire a security clearance within 364 days from date of hire, and must have or be able to acquire CCNA Routing and Switching within 364 days from date of hire. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of experience as an IT Technician V in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Statewide travel is required.
    Working evenings, weekends and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires current CompTIA Security+ certification and as part of compliance with DoDD 8140 (DoDD 8570) requirements.
