Administrative Services Officers function as business managers for a large division or major program area or facility, with responsibility for accounting, budgeting and business management of various services and operations.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This recruitment is for an Administrative Services Officer 4, serving as the Medical Administrator overseeing the administration of the Medical Division for the Nevada Department of Corrections. This position requires external and internal contact providing effective information about the operations and budget and developing constructive relationships with providers and government officials. Specific duties include researching and compiling information regarding inmate health statistics, medical services, and other metrics that represent the productivity of the Medical Division. This position will oversee proposed purchases, expenses, and contracts; develop revenue/expenditure forecasts by analyzing historical fiscal data and trends; and prepare and present justifications for budget proposals and operations to NDOC management, the Executive Budget Office, the Board of Examiners, legislative staff, and the Legislature. The Medical Administrator will also work with representatives of other federal, state, local, and regulatory agencies, vendors, contractors, providers, advocacy groups, community partners, and others in the community to coordinate activities on initiatives. This position must promote the needs of the Medical Division and provide effective information and strategic administrative guidance to the NDOC Medical Director to help manage NDOC's resources for cost effective medical services. As the Medical Administrator, this position reports to the Deputy Director of Support Services. Specific knowledge of health care administration, health care financing, health care delivery, medical terminology, and provider relations is preferred but not required. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business
administration, accounting, finance or a related field and seven years of professional experience in formulating, developing and analyzing agency budgets; fiscal management; and management of multiple business operations, two years of which were equivalent to an Administrative Services Officer III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
