The Position
Photogrammetrist/Cartographer's perform remote sensing work in the preparation of contour maps, terrain models, profile sheets; digital animated fly-through and related mapping materials requiring the application of photogrammetric or cartographic techniques.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This position is located within the Location Division, Carson City. The incumbent will primarily produce statistically-verified cartographic products using MicroStation, InRoads, Excel, survey data, and aerial photography for engineering purposes; archive and index projects in current formats to ensure long term storage and retrieval; collaborate with colleagues and clients on projects; track project progress and maintain records. NOTE: This recruitment may be used to underfill a Photogrammetrist/Cartographer 2 position. Incumbent may progress to the next level after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with approval of the appointing authority. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in photogrammetry, cartography, physical science, geography, civil engineering, or related field; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in photogrammetry, cartography, physical science, geography, mapping, surveying, civil engineering, or related field and one year of experience which included completing digital map files from aerial photography and survey data and operating manual and computerized photogrammetric or cartographic equipment; OR graduation from high school and two years of experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Examination
Exam Type: Training and Experience Evaluation

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).
