Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Nevada Department of Corrections is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, committed, and experienced IT Tech VI who takes pride and ownership in their work. This position works within Nevada Department of Corrections IT Department Infrastructure Group, and is located in Carson City, NV. Under the direction of the IT Professional III, this position will be responsible for ongoing support and operational maintenance of the enterprise environment, as well as assist in providing enterprise support to 18 locations and their respective data centers. The incumbents primary responsibility is sharing the workload in supporting and maintaining 1000+ workstations and various IT infrastructure in 17 locations. Knowledge and experience that is focused on providing support for Windows 10 Operating System, Dell workstations and various software is preferred. The ideal candidate will have excellent documentation skills; basic knowledge in scripting; experience remotely troubleshooting and fixing technical issues. First-rate customer service skills and the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with technical and non-technical personnel are also essential to the success of this position. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of experience as an IT Technician V in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
Statewide travel is required.
Working evenings, weekends and/or holidays is required.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
