Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Nevada Department of Corrections is seeking a full-time Electrician 2. This position is located at High Desert State Prison (HDSP) in Indian Springs, NV. This is a lead Electrician level position under general supervision. The incumbent will perform advanced level trouble shooting on commercial electrical circuits, controls, motor systems, generator equipment and fire alarms. This position will also be responsible for installing data and electrical circuits in EMT, Rigid and PVC per Electrical. This position will respond to repair orders; establish priority of repairs; diagnose problems utilizing appropriate tools and test equipment; estimate cost of jobs; acquire materials to complete jobs by contacting vendors and/or completing purchase requisitions; make repairs; and document time and material costs for billing purposes. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level electrician experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for stand-by emergency status.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
