The Position
Manufactured Housing Inspectors are responsible for the Statewide inspection of manufactured homes, commercial coaches, mobile homes, mobile home parks and other manufactured buildings upon installation; the review of construction plans and specifications for manufactured buildings; the inspection and certification of the facilities, production and quality control processes of manufactured building manufacturers; the enforcement of code and regulatory compliance for projects involving manufactured structures; and the investigation of complaints against manufactured housing dealers, manufacturers, servicepersons and mobile home parks.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is with the Department of Business & Industry, Nevada Housing Division. This position will directly report to the Deputy Administrator and will oversee and supervise all Division activities related to the installation and service repair inspections of manufactured structures conducted by Division personnel, local jurisdictions, and contracted third party providers statewide. The incumbent will ensure the scheduling, operations, inspections, and all related activities are performed in an efficient, consistent, timely and appropriate manner; ensure compliance with all applicable statutes and regulations and related building codes where applicable; ensure the quality and consistency of inspections are uniformly executed statewide while holding a high standard of service; oversee and supervise all incoming complaints from the public and licensees pertaining to NRS/NAC 461, 461A and 489; and ensure procedures are followed, subsequent investigative work is thorough, and all investigations are seen through to completion. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Associate's degree from an accredited college, university or trade school in the building trades, fire science, or closely related field and three years of experience as a general construction contractor, plans examiner or building inspector in a local government entity which included budget preparation and/or monitoring, policy and procedure development and training of rules and regulations to internal and external stakeholders, one year of which included supervisory experience; OR five years of experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Manufactured Housing Inspector II, to include supervisory or lead work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
The Examination
Manufactured Housing Inspector III
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question.
