Development Technicians fabricate, maintain, calibrate, repair and modify a variety of electrical, mechanical and computerized equipment and computer systems used in support of academic research, data gathering, analysis and teaching; and specialize in two or more technical areas such as electronics, mechanical devices or computer systems.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The Department of Administration, Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS), Network Transport Services Unit is recruiting for a Development Technician in Carson City. Incumbent is responsible for installing and maintaining inside and outside plant infrastructure directly supporting microwave communication facilities in central and western Nevada. Duties include installation and maintenance of propane generators, transfer switches, AC & DC power systems, solar systems, air conditioners, tower climbing to work on lines and antennas also propane delivery to refuel generators in support of a statewide enterprise microwave network. Frequent (up to 50%) backcountry travel to remote communications facilities throughout the year is required. The position requires maintaining, installing, and replacing elliptical waveguide lines and microwave antennas on towers.
