The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

Conservation Staff Specialists assist in developing, formulating, and coordinating programs, policies and procedures related to areas such as resource management, safety and training, fire management and policy management pertinent to the assigned area of natural resource management, preservation, conservation and protection.
The Nevada Network of Fire Adapted Communities (The Network) (http://forestry.nv.gov/fire-adapted-communities/) is a statewide organization that promotes wildfire preparedness, including defensible space and threat mitigation activities across all 17 counties of Nevada. As a collaborative focal point to support the development of fire adapted communities, The Network works collaboratively with a variety of government organizations, homeowner, and community based partners. The Executive Coordinator is responsible for providing the leadership and oversight necessary to: 1) Create a sustainable organization consisting of an effective statewide network of local fire adapted communities fully prepared for the occurrence of wildfire, 2) Support the development of community wildfire protection planning efforts to better prepare communities, counties and agencies for wildfire, 3) Promote fuels reduction and mitigation projects in wildland urban interface communities to reduce risk and mitigate potential loss. The Executive Coordinator will provide programmatic development, establishment, and operations management following the recommendations of the Advisory Board, with the supervisory, legal, logistical, and fiscal oversight provided by staff of the Nevada Division of Forestry. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, ecology, natural resource management, forestry, parks management, fire management or related field and three years of journey level professional experience in a relevant resource management field that included assisting in developing, formulating, and coordinating programs, policies and procedures; coordinating special grant programs and/or contracts; and coordinating training programs; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
Some positions require specialized skills and experience in grant management, policy development, equipment and property management, fire and/or resource management, or other natural resource field and will be identified at the time of recruitment.
Special Requirements
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience with financial management to include working with grants and creating related reports is required.
Experience with community wildfire issues and adaptation principles is required.
Experience with map-based tracking, analysis, and planning is required.
