The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

in this geographical location.
Corrections Counselors within in the Nevada Department of Corrections provide mental health services to offenders in a correctional setting including interviews, behavioral planning and implementation, consultation, psycho-educational classes, research, and training.
Psychologist II's are assigned complex caseloads and treat the most severely mentally ill, developmentally or learning-disabled inmates in a correctional setting.
The Psychologist II will design, develop and present correctional programs to inmates; provide clinical treatment to individuals and groups in assigned units of the facility; provide specialized programs and treatment as assigned; and evaluate inmates mental status and behavior for clinical needs and make appropriate referrals. For inmates being treated, they will perform appropriate assessments and prepare psychological reports for Psych Panel hearings and Parole Board reviews; screen, assess or evaluate inmates within 14 days of initial intake and for intra-system transfers; conduct evaluations for administrative and disciplinary segregation of inmates; evaluate all emergency or crisis requests; and provide intervention strategy or treatment plans.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, counseling, education, social work, or closely related field and three years of post-Master's degree experience providing therapy, psychological testing and programmatic services in a correctional, rehabilitative, clinic or institutional setting; OR a Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, educational psychology, social work, or closely related field which included a one-year internship in an applied program and one year of professional experience providing therapy, psychological testing and programmatic services in a correctional, rehabilitative, clinic or institutional setting; OR a Doctoral degree (Psy.D.) in clinical psychology from an accredited school of professional psychology, a one-year internship in an applied program, and one year of experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
