Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

This position is with the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds section, located in Carson City and reports directly to the Facility Manager. This position also supports the Las Vegas Buildings and Ground Section so statewide travel is required. Electricians apply logical and systematic problem-solving skills when responding to Work Orders, performing and/or implementing preventive maintenance work and estimating cost of repairs & new construction. Incumbent must be able to read, correct and maintain blue prints; must be able to supervise and work with inmate workers; and must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for standby emergency status and in support of day-to-day operations. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant at their own cost.
