Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located within the Managed Care and Quality Assurance Unit at the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP). The incumbent will be responsible for the quality assurance, oversite, and monitoring of the Managed Care Organizations (MCO), 1915c Waiver Programs, 1915i State Plan Programs, and other programs as assigned. The incumbent's duties will include researching and evaluating State and Federal rules, regulations, and guidance; assist in the creation and writing of procedures, reports, and Stakeholder presentations; tracking and reporting all deficiencies related to the programs; interviewing recipients, tracking financials, detailed review of case files and systems, creation and writing reports of all findings among the programs; lead stakeholder meetings, follow up on issues and provide recommendations to management and other programs to gain or maintained compliance. The incumbent will travel to meet recipients at their homes, work or place of their choosing to maintain a person centered environment, and follow up on inquiries from the public and sister agencies as necessary.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
